Deleting your data
If you have an account
Open the app, go to Settings, and choose Delete account. It happens immediately; there is no waiting period and no email round trip.
- Bills you created are deleted, and their invitation links stop working at once.
- Receipt images and PDFs from those bills are scheduled for removal from storage.
- Your saved Venmo and Cash App usernames are deleted, including copies attached to bills you shared.
- Your email address is removed from the account record.
- On bills other people own, your name is replaced with “Removed person” and your account link is dropped. The amounts stay, because the other people on that bill still need them to settle up.
- Analytics rows lose their link to you and remain only as counts.
If you joined as a guest
A guest has no account to delete. What exists is a name on one bill and the items ticked against it. Ask the person who created the bill to remove you from it, or to delete the whole bill. If they cannot, contact the operator below with the merchant name and rough date.
Deleting a single bill
The person who created a bill can delete it from the bill list in the app. That revokes its links, removes it for everyone, and schedules its receipt file for deletion.
Backups
Backups are kept so the service can be restored after a failure. A deleted record can survive in a backup for a limited period until that backup is rotated out on its normal schedule. This is a limitation worth stating plainly rather than promising instant erasure everywhere.
Receipt images
Uploaded receipt files are deleted automatically 30 days after upload, whether or not anything else is deleted. The parsed items stay with the bill until the bill is deleted.
